Pop Up Techno 1

Techno is Dead.

That’s what they said.

House is old,

or so I’m told.

4 on the Floor,

is no more?

Where’d it go?

Jack ain’t ever left.

He came HOME.

Chicago has been the birthplace to many of the most siginificant

influences in music in the 20th and 21st Centuries.

Jazz, Blues, House, Techno.

Well, what has been really unexplained,

is why you can’t find a proper venue or station

that will allow you the pleasure of hearing it done like it was in the old days.

Where are the BIG ROOMS?

Where are the whareHOUSEs?

Where are the tribal paths?

Where can you go to just LOOSE IT?

Well, with those pressing questions on my brain,

I’ve wondered what to do about this draught.

Wanting to play a proper venue, I realized.

THERE ARENT ANY?

REALLY?

REALLY!

So, the 5th Floor Gorilla

decided to take things into his own paws

Guerilla Style.

Skip the Ultra Lounges.

Skip The Clubs.

Skip the politics.

Skip the Cliques.

Skip the Bourgeoisie.

TIME TO BRING IT BACK TO THE PEOPLE.

Time for a lil Pop Up Techno.

3 hours ON POINT

A home 5.1 system

Basic Laptop

Public Venue

Little Time

Lots of Tracks

Little Notice

Lots of Bass

A few basement goodies tossed in for sheer crowd appeal,

and to further support my claims, THIS AINT DEAD.

So without further adieu

I give you Pop Up Techno 1

Flashback Friday

Ecclectic Electric Emporium

Well I’ve been digging thru the archives for a little bit now

I just so happened to run across a few little numbers that I have put together

that unfortunately never got to see the light of day.

This gem being one of them.

Now that I have the medium to showcase it, I figured why not.

This mix was done back in 2009

and has a bit of a different vibe to it.

I called it the Ecclectic Electric Emporium because

it bounces from genre to genre and settles in familiar DJ Nave E territory towards the end.

Starting off with the likes of

Pharrell Williams

and going thru a wide scope of artists,

I thought that you might enjoy taking this little journey thru

music history with me.

Hope you enjoy it, and stay tuned.

Spring Divas is coming very very soon.

Until then…

EFDB 4 Delayed But Danny’s Not Denied…

Danny's Curveball

Danny’s Curveball

Massively Delayed

Definitely not to be denied.

Escaped From Da Basement is BACK!

This time in a whole new way!

CURVE BALL STYLE!

This mix was uploaded back in July, but due to technical difficulties

server upgrades, and numerous WordPress changes…

here is the OFFICIAL post to highlight this mix.

First off, a bit of history behind this one of a kind mix.

Thanks to Danny Nemeth for the suggestion and track listing.

Well, true to form, this one is TRULY a curve ball.

With the sonic talents of the following artists

this mix is a 90’s tour de force.

Debbie Deb has a Two Fer to open the set

Beastie Boys drop some knowledge

Shaggy Ft. Brian and Tony Gold

Wrecks N Effectsf shake things up

BBD gives a warning

Blackstreet pays some well earned admiration

Mary J. Blige does her…as always

Eve Ft. Gwen Stefani are on a mission

Nelly feat. P. Diddy & Murphy Lee turns it up a notch

Brittney Spears shows off what made her popular

Nelly drops some heat

Christina Aguliera feat. Redman makes things dirrty

Christina Aguilera Lil Kim Mya Pink & Missy Elliot take us back in time

Missy Elliot just can’t be stopped

Rose Royce comes thru to show these young’uns how to do it

Brittney Spears returns with another scortcher

Aqua comes thru with a classic

Gwen Steffani feat. Alisher Enzo puts a little oomph in it…

Missy Elliot yet again

and Vex Music Feat. Missy Elliot & Snoop Dogg finish up the set.

This was a great experiment and a welcome collaboration.

Thanks again Danny for your invaluable help.

Hit me up on Facebook or leave a comment here if you have an idea.

Who knows, maybe I’ll take it and make it a reality.

As always yours in groove..,.

We’ve got you SURROUNDED…almost

let’s try this again!!!

So come out with your HANDS UP!

Get ready to get your groove on in a whole new fashion.

Yes, here at DJNaveE.com, I’ve always tried to ensure

of some pretty high sonic standards.

This time around, I’ve decided to up the ante quite a bit.

Not only instead of just making sure that I balance and master

the tracks to sound great on regular headphones and speaker systems

this time I’ve taken the added step to make sure that if you are

bangin these mixcasts on your surround sound system

you’ll get improved sonic quality

custom mastered for a 5.1 environment!

November Knockin Part 3 in Stereo

With the holidays rapidly approaching and with a ton of some new tracks

quite a few old ones, and a boat load of new software, it’s time to crunch out

some banging new mixes.

At the suggestion of a couple of fans who like the longer mixes

instead of the split ones that require you add them to a playlist,

I decided that it is time for a full length banger.

This one is on the electro, 8bit, and naturally minimalistic tip.

There are over 35 tracks spanning just short of 3 hours (by a few minutes).

Ann Nesby makes a revisit, this time in a slightly different fashion.

I’ve got some S Club 5  (yeah its ripped right out of the video game)

Kaskade and some of his new banging mashups make an appearance

Adam Beyer, Nicky Romero, Tommy Trash

the one and only Cajmere

Green Velvet

and a few new tracks that are unavailable, and heard here exclusively by

Fredda L (banging track absolutely banging)

Peter Pitzzutelli (you need to look this dude up)

Eddie Thoneick

Erick Deeks & Lauren Neko

Suzanne Vega (yes, AGAIN!)

brought up a really good oldie from iiO

Afrojack

Deniz Koyu

Christina Aguliera

Amy Winehouse

and the list goes on and on, and so do these beats.

This mix was done with a nice electro-minimalist vibe, and has some interesting presence.

It was so good, I had to embark on a new sonic mission I’ve had for over 10 years

I mastered this version of the mix to have regular stereo separation,

HOWEVER

in case you are one of those audiophiles, and you have an awesome system

or you just like to bang things out on your surround sound system

you might want to take a listen to the 5.1 mixdown version

that’s featured on the next posting!

Veterans Day Disc 2

With such a stellar beginning, how could I just end a disc like that?

How wrong of me I know, but then again, I’ve got the cure

DISC 2 is here with more of the madness!

Yeah more DJ Funk

More Sneak

and for this one…

BON JOVI!

I know, I lost my mind.

ENJOY!

Veterans Day 2011 Disc 1

Unfortunately, with the recent demise of the HCBD series of mixes

(R.I.P.)

and with the special day being 11-11-11

I had been mulling over this idea for quite some time.

I figured, why not make something a bit more fun than usual.

I wasn’t originally planning on making it for Veterans.

It doesn’t have much of a military theme to it either.

It’s just that it’s an unbridled let your hair down good time!

First off, this is the new mix as a result of the massive technology infusion of October.

The new lappy, new OS’es, and lots of other goodies have been tossed in.

With that, there has also been the massive procurement of music,

and a getting in touch with some old friends with some old goodies.

Where do I begin? I don’t know where I get these ideas, but for example…

who in a minimal mix throws in Nirvana?

ME

Jodeci? Wait wait, did I really type that…

YUP I dug up Jodeci!

CZR?

Me

Toss in some Danny Teneglia, Rosabel, Boris Rush,

This one is way to crazy to describe, and being spatially mixed for 5.1 enjoyment

Let’s say this one is audacious.  I hope you like it!

23 Sep

Oldies yes OOOH soo goodies!!!

It’s been a wild and adventurous

month of September folks let me tell ya!

After a few system upgrades

and a few equipment failures,

BSOD’s, hard drive crashes,

and re-installation of Windows 7…

count it…..

7 times (who knew THAT’S what the 7 was for),

this latest beat foray is a continuation

of the Escaped From Da Basement series.

I figured I hadn’t updated it in a while and it was due for a new mix.

Besides, I had a few dusties

and well a few really good revisits

to some good old classics.

I’m a sucker for a good bootleg

and if it’s worthy of some good play,

I’m not beneath playing it!

Besides, these tracks only belong in a basement mix,

I mean we got Michael Jackson,

not only once but TWICE!!!

I got Newcleus, yeah, you read it right…Jam On It…

Toss in some Prince, Some Ralphi Rosario, A dash of Razor and Guido, and shake in some RuPaul for extra spice, spin at 132.6 bpm, and well…

This is what you got…take a listen!
